I chose this picture of the Great Pyramids of Giza because National Geographic is one of my favorite magazines to read.  In this picture, the pyramids in Egypt were sqeezed so that they could fit on the cover of the National Geographic magazine.  Although this distorts their image a little, no harm is being done since the main goal of the magazine is to inform and educate its readers.  The pyramids are not changing what they represent or what they mean in any way that supports National Geographic, they are only being made to fit on the magazine cover.

This is a video of how Photoshop can give someone beautiful eyes.  This type of Photoshop enhancement is being done by many companies that represent beauty in their commercials on TV.  Any type of video that has a close up of an eye has been retouched to catch the viewer's attention and mesmerize them to buy the product the commercial is advertising.  This Youtube video shows how to enhance a person's eye and reveals the truth that most advertisements on TV use some type of image manipulation.

  1. I agree with your position on the National Geographic picture. Clearly the magaizne has no intention of harming the image of the Egyptian pyramids and their intention was soely design based. They wanted to make the cover look as appealing as possible.

  2. I never knew you could do that with Photoshop. There is an obvious difference between the before and after!!

  3. Ha, I never knew that National Geographic photo was edited--I don't know why but I always thought NG left their photos unaltered; that's silly haha. Neat find!
